Empowerment Project

The Suncoast Workforce (SW) received a Notice of Grant Award on December 1, 2010 in the amount of $500,000 for the Empowerment Pilot Project.  This is a 12-month grant from December 1, 2010 through November 30, 2011. With the special resources provided through the Empowerment Project, SW has the ability to augment local domestic violence agency services and resources by cross-training staff and creating a more effective referral process that increases the safety net for survivors of domestic violence (DV).  SW will be working with the local domestic violence agencies Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center (SPARCC) and Hope Family Services (HOPE) to coordinate and facilitate the goals of this project.  The objective is to serve survivors who reside in Manatee and Sarasota Counties with workforce services by participating in one of three tracks: 1) direct employment 2) life skills workshop series 3) short-term occupational skills training.

Vision: A community where people have the skills and resources to solve problems without violence.

Mission: To promote opportunities to empower survivors of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) to achieve self-sufficiency.
