publications and resources are available to help job seekers make informed
career choices. Career counseling and assistance on using labor market
information is provided in the Resource Room at each Jobs ETC office.
Occupational
Career Posters –
Check out the colorful posters in the Resource Room. These posters provide
information about jobs in specific industries along with their education
requirement and salary. This information helps you understand the connection
between education and wages. You

Wage
Conversion – The
Wage Conversion poster provides a simple matrix on hourly wages converted into
annual wages. By using the Wage Conversion poster, job seekers can quickly
compute their potential earnings as they job search.

– These posters provide a “One-Stop” source of websites that assist
individuals providing labor market information and job/career sites.

What
Jobs in Florida Pay
(Occupational Wage Survey publications) – This publication provides wages for
specific occupations; both locally and statewide.
Job seekers are able to see what the current and projected wages are when
conducting job search and making career decisions.
This information is
available online and through Florida's
Research and Economic Database (FRED).
What
are Tomorrow’s Hot Jobs
(Industry and Occupational Projections publications) – Industry and
Occupational projections can be found through 2008 for each area within the
state as well as statewide. Job
seekers can see the potential growth or decline of specific occupations;
valuable information when job searching and/or considering training. This
information is available on-line at through the FRED
system.
A
Career Information Delivery System
(CIDS) like CHOICES – Products like CHOICES provide a more holistic approach
to career decision making by guiding the individual through modules designed to
provide a more realistic job search and career strategy; customized to each
individual. CHOICES
and other CIDS are available on-line.
Florida’s
Research and Economic Database (FRED)
– This interactive database provides an on-line system containing much of the
data used by job seekers and employers. The
new component, “FRED Job Seeker”, will provide on-line videos of specific
careers so that job seekers can become familiar with the requirements and traits
of specific occupations. This

America’s
Career Kit (featuring
America's Job Bank and America's Service Locator) – These on-line systems
parallel many of Florida's systems but provide a link to national data and other
resources. They include information on jobs, resume posting, training providers,
a directory of local providers and more. Visit

Occupational
Network (O*NET) -
O*NET allows individuals to determine which skills are necessary for particular
jobs. They can then use this
information to identify skills gaps or potential areas for skills
training/upgrade. Job seekers can
also see what other occupations use the skills they currently have for
consideration during career decision-making.

"Consumer
Reports" -
Information, which provides job seekers with enough information regarding
training providers’ performance, including: placement rates, wages at
placement, retention, and other information to be taken into consideration when
choosing a training provider. The Florida Training and Education Network is the
“consumer reports” system
used by Florida’s workforce community.
