Councils and Committees

The mission of the Suncoast Workforce Board is accomplished through the work of Councils and Committees.

The Youth Council replicates similar councils at the federal and state level, and provides local direction to workforce programming in the Sarasota/Manatee region.  The Council membership is comprised of a diverse group of educators, business people and community leaders from both Sarasota and Manatee Counties.

The Council’s primary responsibilities are:

  1. To bring together community members from both Manatee and Sarasota Counties to identify the issues pertinent to career education and employment for students and young adults entering the workforce for the first time;

  2. To coordinate and share funding and program information among members, thereby preventing duplication of effort and services, and maximizing resources available to youths

  3. To present the Suncoast Workforce Board’s Executive Committee with strategies for assisting youth and first-time job seekers as they enter the workforce.

  4. To oversee youth programs and receive reports from staff on quality and performance.

  5. To assure the equitable distribution of the Youth Councils resources throughout the two-county area.

WHAT WILL THE FOCUS OF THE COUNCIL BE FOR 2006/2007?
